Job Information

Our Warehouse Operatives are responsible for the storage of our finished pasta and snacks. At any time, we could be holding in excess of 1,000 pallets of products ready to go to our customers.

Our products are made in one of the two production facilities that we have in Great Yarmouth and Norwich and then are then stored in the warehouse facility. Due to an increased workload, we felt that this was a good time for an apprentice to join the team and work across the warehouse and production facilities.

The successful applicant will learn every aspect of our warehousing system to begin with and then learn how to operate the pasta production machinery. We will also send you on an external course to drive a forklift truck so you will be RTITB qualified.

This can be a busy role so you will need a positive, can-do attitude and work well under pressure.

The role will report to the Warehouse Co-Ordinator and the role will include the following:

  • Drive the forklift, power pallet trucks and other machinery on all sites as directed (once trained).
  • Check the forklift each day before working on it and complete all necessary forms/report any faults or defects to the Line Manager (once trained).
  • Stack/de-stack/restack Lorries, trailers, pallets and/or containers.
  • Administration duties with relevance for vehicle loading/unloading and stock control in the form of writing/recording information, computer inputting, receiving of records e.g. delivery notes.
  • Sweep and clean the warehouse, yards or any other area as directed. This may include working outside regardless of the season
  • Learn how to operate our state of the art production machinery and work as part of a small but efficient team when necessary
  • Take ownership of health and safety for yourself and others at work. Ensure all health and safety procedures are followed and encourage safe working practices at all times.
  • Follow all Pasta Foods policies and procedures.
  • Such other general duties as the Company may at times reasonably require.

Person Specification:

To be successful in this role, you must be:

  • Mature in your attitude as this can potentially be a dangerous environment and health and safety rules are extremely important to follow.
  • Computer literate.
  • Feel comfortable working with numbers and basic mathematics.
  • Be a team player with the ability to work your own initiative.
  • Be an excellent communicator as you will need to work closely with other employees as well as people from other companies.
  • Be flexible.

No previous experience is required as the successful applicant will be offered full training and the required support to reach the high standards set by Pasta Foods.

Other Information

Working week: This position works Monday – Thursday from 8:00am to 4:30pm and Friday is 8:00am – 4:00pm Flexibility to working hours is necessary as you may offer cover within production once trained, which can include shift work. Total hours per week: 37.50

Weekly wage: £168.75

Training to be Provided

In house training as well as a Nationally Recognised Qualification at Intermediate Level to be completed in Warehousing and Storage through Norfolk Training Services Ltd (NTS), which will include functional skills in English and Maths at level 1 and you will also work towards completing your technical certificate as well as sitting an end test to obtain this certificate.
